Below are a number websites and organizations who share our mission to care for the environment, transition to a clean energy economy, and protect our natural resources.  Visit their websites to learn what they are doing as good stewards of the earth and find more ways you can foster environmental justice.

Religion and the Environment

Interfaith Power & Light, of which Virginia Interfaith Power & Light is a chapter, provides numerous educational resources, including books, music, films, sermons, and more, for you and your congregation.

The National Religous Partnership for the Environment is an association of independent faith groups committed to protecting Creation.  Visit their website where they explore answers to the question, "Why is the environment a religious concern?"

Virginia and Regional

The Virginia Conservation Network is comprised of more than 100 organizations dedicated to working together for conservation and quality of life.  Their website is an excellent resource for learning more about environmental policy.

Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) - Virginia is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Southern Environmental Law Center is a regional, non-profit organization dedicated to securing lasting protection for the South’s natural resources and outstanding landscapes.

The Sierra Club Virginia Chapter is friends, neighbors, and volunteers working to build healthy, livable communities, and to conserve and restore our natural environment.

The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is the first grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Their mission is to amass undeniable grassroots power in this unique region surrounding our nation’s capital to call for state, national, and international policies that will put us on a path to climate stability.

The Green Jobs Alliance has established a blueprint for an education, training and job placement infrastructure that will create thousands of Clean Energy jobs in our economy, help our citizens become more energy efficient, and protect our environment—all at the same time.

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) works to promote and protect the Piedmont’s rural economy, natural resources, history and beauty. PEC is a national leader in land conservation, land use policy and smart growth.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) fights for bold and creative solutions to the pollution that plagues the Bay and its tributaries.  Their website features education material, access to critical bay issues, and tools for citizens to take action on behalf of the Bay.

Wise Energy for Virginia is a growing coalition of national, regional and local organizations committed to securing a clean energy future for Virginia.  Visit the Action Center on their website for many ways to get involved and help make a difference in Virginia.

Appalachian Voices is an award-winning, environmental non-profit that brings people together to protect the land, air, and water of the central and southern Appalachian region.  Learn more about and get involved in their numerous environmental campaigns.

National

ThinkProgress - Green is a project of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.  It is a blog that seeks to provide a forum that advances progressive ideas and policies relating to the environment.

The U.S. Department of Energy is a governmental department whose mission is to advance energy technology and promote related innovation in the U.S.  Their website includes comprehensive information and links about science and technology, energy sources, energy efficiency, the environment, energy prices and trends, national security, and safety and health.

The Natural Resources Defense Council is a national environmental action group that works to protect wildlife and wild places and to ensure a healthy environment for all life on earth.  Their website is a great resource for keeping up with environmental news, issues, and policy.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) uses the power of public information to protect public health and the environment.  Check out their website to learn more about a wide range of federal policy issues.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting economic prosperity, energy security, and environmental protection.

ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) advocates for the development of wind energy as a reliable, environmentally superior energy alternative in the United States and around the world.

The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is a national organization dedicated to advancing the use of solar energy for the benefit of U.S. citizens and the global environment.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nations foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.

Offshore Wind Wire provides breaking news and intelligent analysis for the US offshore wind industry.  It is the only publication focused soley on this important and emerging sector.
